Master Greek B1 Verbs: How to Use Them Like a Pro!

You might already be familiar with the A verbs in Greek, but today we’re taking it a step further. We’ll dive into the B1 verbs, one of the most important verb types you’ll need to master.

Type B1 verbs in Greek
Let’s see the verb “I speak”.
In Greek it’s μιλάω (milao). Μιλάω is a B1 verb because it ends in -άω. All the verbs that end in -άω are called Β1 verbs. Let’s conjugate it. All B1 verbs like μιλάω use specific endings.
I speak – μιλάω (milao)
you speak – μιλάς (milas)
he/she/it speaks – μιλάει (milai)
we speak – μιλάμε (milame)
you (pl.) speak – μιλάτε (milate)
they speak – μιλάνε (milane)
Let’s see another B1 verb.
Let’s see γελάω (yelao), which means I laugh. We’ll use the same B1 endings.
I laugh – γελάω (yelao)
you laugh – γελάς (yelas)
he/she/it laughs – γελάει (yelai)
we laugh – γελάμε (yelame)
you (pl.) laugh – γελάτε (yelate)
they laugh – γελάνε – (yelane)
Another common B1 verb is αγαπάω (aghapao), which means “I love”.
Let’s conjugate this one using the same B1 endings.
I love – αγαπάω (aghapao)
you love – αγαπάς (aghapas)
he/she/it loves – αγαπάει (aghapai)
we love – αγαπάμε (aghapame)
you (pl.) love – αγαπάτε (aghapate)
they love – αγαπάνε (aghapane)
Examples
Μιλάω ελληνικά και αγγλικά.
I speak greek and english.
Ο Πέτρος αγαπάει την γυναίκα του.
Petros loves his wife.
Περνάμε καλά και γελάμε με τα αστεία του.
We have a good time and we laugh with his jokes.
