5 Common Greek Phrases You’ll Hear Every Day!

TRANSCRIPT

Hello, I’m Thanasis and welcome back to Better Greek.

Today, we’ll see 5 expressions you’ll hear on a daily basis in Greece. These are super useful for sounding like a native speaker.

Let’s get started!

1. "Τι λέει;" – How Do You Like It?

🗣️ Person 1:
• Τι λέει η νέα ταινία; Καλή;
• How do you like the new movie? (Lit: What does the movie say?)

🗣️ Person 2:
• Απίστευτη!
• Unbelievable!

📌 Meaning:
This phrase is used to ask for someone’s opinion on something, whether it’s food, a movie, or even a new experience. Instead of just asking, “How is it?”, Greeks ask, “What does it say?” It’s a cool and casual way to check how someone feels about something!
