5 Useful Greek Expressions with “Βλέπω” and Their Meanings

Today, we’re going to explore some common Greek expressions with the verb “βλέπω.”

These are everyday phrases that will help you sound like a native Greek speaker. Let’s get started!


[Expression 1] Την είδα – "To have a high opinion of oneself"

The first expression is την είδα, which means “to have a high opinion of oneself.” It’s often used when someone starts acting like they’re something they’re not, typically after some success.

Example: Από τότε που έπαιξε σε εκείνο το διαφημιστικό την είδε ηθοποιός.
(After he acted on that TV commercial, he thinks he’s an actor.)


[Expression 2] Τα είδα όλα – "I was scared to death" / "I am afraid"

Next, we have τα είδα όλα, which means “I was scared to death.” This expression is used when something happens that gives you a huge shock or scare.

Example: Όπως οδηγούσα, πετάχτηκε μπροστά μου ένα παιδάκι. Τα είδα όλα!
(While I was driving, a child jumped out in front of me! I was scared to death!)
