Today I’m going to talk about the most important phrases when ordering food in Greek.
And we’ll also see a realistic dialogue at the Greek restaurant.

How To Order Food in Greek
Step 1 – Call the waiter
Start by saying …
1. Να παραγγείλουμε; – Could we order?
Or if you prefer the longer version, you can say…
2. Μπορούμε να παραγγείλουμε; – Could we order?
Step 2 – Place your order
Start by saying …
1. θα ήθελα – I would like
For example
Θα ήθελα μια μπριζόλα με πατάτες τηγανιτές.
I would like a steak with french fries.
Or if you prefer to say something more informal …
2. Θέλω – I want
For example
Θέλω ένα τζατζίκι.
I want a tzatziki.
And this one would also work …
3. θα πάρω – I ‘ll “have”
For example
Θα πάρω έναν μουσακά και μία κόκα κόλα.
I’ll take/have moussaka and a coca cola.
Step 3 – Ask for the bill
Start by saying …
1. Θα μας φέρετε τον λογαριασμό; – Could you bring us the bill?
or the faster …
2. Τον λογαριασμό, παρακαλώ. – the bill, please.
or something more formal …
3. Μπορούμε να έχουμε τον λογαριασμό; – Could we have the bill
and this one would work too…
4. Να πληρώσουμε; – Could we pay?
Bonus Phrases
If the restaurant looks crowded, you can say …
1. Έχετε τραπέζι για δύο άτομα;
Do you have a table for two persons?
If there’s no menu on the table, you can say …
2. Μπορούμε να έχουμε έναν κατάλογο;
Could we have a menu?
You can also ask for recommendations from the waiter by saying …
3. Τι προτείνετε;
What do you recommend?
If you need more bread, you can say …
4. Μπορούμε να έχουμε λίγο ψωμί ακόμα;
Could we have a little more bread?
If you don’t know where the toilet is, you can say …
5. Πού είναι η τουαλέτα;
Where is the toilet?

English Translation
Customer: Hello, do you have a table for 2?
Waiter: Yes, of course. Have a seat here.
Customer: Thank you! Could we have a menu?

Customer: I would like a Greek salad and a tzatziki. And 1 beer, please.
Waiter: Is that all?
